Global Warming Is A Serious Problem Essay - 1675 Words

â€Å"More than a million species face potential extinction as a result of disappearing habitats, changing ecosystems, and acidifying oceans.† (Berger, 2015) Global warming is a serious problem for several reasons including melting glaciers, more severe storms, and the effects that it is having on our wild life/ sea life due to the greenhouse effect. We must start taking measures to help the effects of global warming. If we do not start making changes to help the issue that global warming is bringing, we will really start to regret it because we only have one earth and if something happens to our earth we don’t have a second chance. I will explain what global warming is, what makes global warming possible and some small and large changes we can make to slow down/ stop global warming. â€Å"Over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history. And experts see the trend is accelerating. All but one of the 16 hottest years in NASA’s 134-year record have occurred since 2000.† What they call that process is global warming, it has two main â€Å"green house gases† that are to blame for this climate change. To start there is Carbon Dioxide (CO2) this is the biggest offender of global warming and is responsible for 63 percent over time and 93 percent in the last 5 years of global warming says May, E. Caron, Z. What CO2 is produced from is burning fossil fuels like coal, some natural gasses and oils.
